Determining the Eligibility of New Members & Substitutes

Determining the eligibility of a New Member or Substitute requires two initial steps.

The first step is to verify if the prospective player has an established EAQ from either of the previous two (2) seasons or a current EAQ for New Member transfers. EAQ lists from the last two seasons are included with the captain's folders. In the Ladies League you use the EAQ from the previous seasons Ladies EAQ lists. If not listed you then check the Mixed League for an EAQ. In the mixed league you take the EAQ from the previous seasons Mixed EAQ lists. If not listed you then check the Ladies League for an EAQ (if applicable). For current EAQ's refer to the standings sheet.

If the New Member or Substitute has an EAQ from the previous season(s) then the second step is to determine eligibility. Computing the allowed EAQ for a New Member is done by determining the three other team members that have the highest EAQ and comprise a legal team along with the New Member. For Substitutes you use the highest EAQ of the three other players that will play with the Substitute. Total the EAQ of the three other players. EAQ is from the Division Roster for original Members and current EAQ for new members with such and from the Division roster for new members without a current EAQ. This total is deducted from the Division Parameter (not the Parameter Plus 20) and the balance is the maximum EAQ for the new member or substitute. Use the "Work Sheet for Player Eligibility" on the other side of this page.

When the EAQ listed from the previous season for the new member or substitute is equal to or less than the Maximum Allowable EAQ then the new member or substitute may play without being monitored for player penalties for the balance of the season.

If the EAQ listed from the previous season is higher than the Maximum Allowable EAQ then that player is not eligible to play. When a player is used that is not eligible then all games that the ineligible player was in will revert to an administrative penalty of one win point for each game and the team is still subject to player EAQ penalty points, if earned, for the ineligible player.

When the prospective player does not have an EAQ from the previous season they may play but the team will be monitored for player penalties for the balance of the season. See the "Work Sheet for Player Penalties" for more information.
